Steve Pepper’s book on 21 Secrets of Successful management
Is a volume of light reading studded with useful nuggets of management strategy gold. The section on how to select and carry out effective recruitment strategies as well as designing job advertisements to get the right sort of candidate applying is also clear and concise. For an employer the appraisal section is also useful in its description of putting together praise sandwiches so it doesn’t feel like you are using an appraisal as an opportunity to have a go. All in all an effective read as well as compact and efficient.

This is an SSTTP book (Short, Sweet and To The Point). Common sense? Yes! Obvious? Yes! Simple? That too!
Sad news is, often common sense is not all that common and the obvious and simply overlooked.
I picked up this book wondering what ‘21 Secrets of Successful STAFF Management’ could teach me... after all I don’t have any staff, I’m a one person business who’s a business and an after dinner speaker.
And yet this book is full of advice and insights for dealing with people whether they are staff or not. There are gems of information I already knew about but forgot (we all forget from time to time and need reminding). There are some gems I didn’t know about and will begin applying in my business AND personal life.
This book is about how to deal with people and get the most out of them. Aimed mainly at dealing with staff but also useful when dealing with family, friends and people in general. Brilliant!
